As a new feature on my Portfolio page, I have embedded a spreadsheet that tracks my stock watchlist as well as current asset allocation recommendations (ie. percent of stock vs. bond funds).
The ‘Stock Watchlist’ tab shows the current stock price compared to my estimate of Intrinsic Value. I calculate Intrinsic Value using my most recent valuation methodology as described by Warren Buffet in his 2010 annual Berkshire Hathaway letter (called ‘3 Pillars of Value’, I will expound on this soon). This is the list I personally follow for buy and sell decisions. The table shows my recommended maximum purchase price, which provides a ‘Margin of Safety’ to the intrinsic value. Stock prices are color-coded for ease of review (Red means above Intrinsic Value, Green below, ie time to buy)
The spreadsheet tab ‘Asset Allocation Table’ shows my current recommended allocations to stocks, bonds, REITS, etc. This is developed as I described in a recent article. My asset allocation has served me well this year, I’ll also describe this process in future articles.
The ‘Closed Stock Positions’ tab shows my past 5 year history of stock trades. With an average 26% return over 49 picks, I’m beating the S&P 500 by nearly 10% per stock pick. Value investing works.
If you have any problems viewing the spreadsheet please let me know – David[at]HealthyWealthyWiseProject.com
I’ll appreciate the feedback, I’m trying to make this a more useful website for everyone.
Again, the permanent home for this spreadsheet will be at the Wealthy page. [click to see the Spreadsheet]
